Abstract In this thesis, we develop an object-oriented framework for the implementation of distributed shop floor control in FMS. By using object-oriented methodology, this framework helps system developers model complex manufacturing system correctly, and modification and maintenance of control software can be done easily even if manufacturing system undergoes big changes. For efficient distributed control, we design cell controller architecture through a systematic approach, and propose guide lines for it. By proposing a generic framework for distributed shop floor control in FMS, it is possible to develop rapidly a new distributed control software in a real FMS by modifying the proposed architecture and parameter value a little. To verify the validation of the proposed software framework in a real FMS, we conducted simulation experiments using SNU/FMS that is installed and operated at ASRI(Automation and Systems Research Institute) in SNU(Seoul National University).
