Abstract Due to the growing interests in environmental issues, Reverse supply chain- which is a concept for efficient treatment of used-product, recycling and disposal ? is getting more attention. Herein the reverse supply chain means the process of planning, re-planning, implementing, and controlling of an efficient and cost effective flow of raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods, and related information flow from the point of consumption to the point of origin for the purpose of recapturing or creating value and/or proper disposal.
Information system technology can be applied to reverse supply chain systems for efficiency. In the case of reverse supply chain, information storing and handling can be complex due to the existence of return flow. This research suggests a process how to apply RFID technology in reverse supply chain.
This research investigates the limits of current technology based on the survey of technology level. And we suggest RFID system requirements. Through the survey of existing researches, reverse supply chain activity is analyzed, and the critical data category is derived. Using these results, a conceptual RFID system is suggested. Also the effect and cost of RFID system installation are tested for an automobile industry to check the variability of our approach.
