Abstract It is necessary that business activities involve tremendous impact on environment. There is a growing interest in environmentally conscious manufacturing. Enterprises are required to make efforts and contribution to observe environment-related laws and regulations, and to voluntarily reduce environmental damage and establish such systems that enable sustainable development.
Efforts in analysis and control of environmental impact go beyond traditional approach to reduce adverse effect after occurrence and now aim to identify and eliminate sources of damage in advance. These include Life Cycle Assessment(LCA), Life Cycle Cost Analysis(LCCA) and Supply Chain Environment Management(SCEM).
This research suggests the design framework to reduce environmental impact in the total life cycle - manufacturing, distribution, use and disposal ? of a product, and to improve product development competitiveness by considering environmental factors together at the earl stage of product development and design.
