Abstract In this thesis, we propose an FMS shop floor control system which combines the merits of object oriented methodology and distributed problem solving. The proposed system represents every component of FMS as an intelligent object, and has a structure to deal with shop status change through autonomous bidding procedure. Experimental investigation shows that the proposed system has less flow time of jobs and less deviation among machine workloads than well-known conventional dispatching rules.
