Abstract Under the recent environment of high competition, it is no longer possible for a company to be responsible for the whole manufacturing process. Such conditions led many companies to work closely together with outside manufacturers, distributors and suppliers. As the results, coordination among companies that participate in supply chain network ha become very important. These companies acknowledged the importance of mathematical planning based supply chain planning (SCP) and tried to implement the system. However, the characteristic of SCP is of such that relation between mathematical objects are very complex and vast amount of data is required to establish the actual planning, so a lot of effort needs to be paid in planning. In addition, if the case of system modification is not considered, it will be difficult to adapt to changing environment.

This research aims to solve the difficulties encountered during mathematical planning system implementation and to add flexibility to the system by introducing model management system concept.

Mathematical management system can be divided into three major modules. The first one is model management system. This module can further divided into model base that stores mathematical model objects, interface between model base and mathematical engine, and user interface. The second module is data source that includes database. This module stores input data that is necessary for establishing mathematical model. The third model is optimization engine to solve the actual problem.

With regards to model base, as a means to store model object of mathematical planning, this paper describes the method of declaring model object using object oriented methodology, providing model schema that can express the relation between each objects, and actual storage procedures.

The purpose of this research is to create mathematical model, design model management system that supports model modification without the need for detailed knowledge of mathematical planning system, and implement the prototype of such system.
