Abstract One of the major problems facing manufacturing organization is how to provide efficient and cost effective responses to the unpredicted changes taking place in a global market. The problem was made more difficult since there had been no proper means to provide real time feedback information for current information systems, such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Supply Chain Management (SCM). However, Real Time Enterprise (RTE) has become a reality now due to the emerging technologies like radio-frequency identification (RFID) and Web services. This paper presents a framework of ubiquitous manufacturing system which utilizes the RFID system to gain accurate production and process information in real time and sharing them through Web services. The proposed framework utilizes user information stored in user memory of RFID tags to reduce the load of centralized system and to improve operations responsiveness in manufacturing environment. Moreover, the proposed framework provides a tight security control over the internet to share production and process data on the web environment.
