Many companies have tried to gain a competitive advantage through e±cient supply chain management and, to this end, have de- veloped various strategies based on the use of shared information. The extent to which individual supply chain members bene?t from such shar- ing of information varies according to the strategic environment in which they ?nd themselves. In this study, we analyze the impact of information sharing in the supply chain, especially in the case of the vendor man- aged inventory (VMI), which is one of the most popular supply chain environments. After describing the different supply chain models, we perform a detailed computational study by simulation. In this simula- tion, we consider the operational conditions concerning the capacity and cost parameters. The simulation experiment provides some insight into the question of which environment will cause the pro?t to be increased or decreased.
