abstract 물류산업의 장기적 발전을 위해서는 물류산업의 낭비 제거와 효율성 제고가 필요하다. 그리고 이를 위해서 IT기반의 의사결정 지원시스템이 필요할 것으로 사료되며 불확실성 하에서 최선의 의사결정 지원 시스템으로 알려진 경영과학 기법이 물류산업 전반에 걸쳐 적용되면 큰 효과를 볼 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

경영과학의 요체는 1) 데이터, 2) 모델, 3) 예측, 4) 최소의 위험, 5) 최대의 효과 등 다섯 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 국내의 현재 상황은 이러한 모든 부분에서 취약점이 있는 것으로 사료된다. 예를 들어 정확한 데이터가 중요한데 물류산업의 경우 산업 종사자 그룹의 이해관계가 상충되는 측면이 있어 정확한 데이터의 산출이 쉽지 않다. 그럼에도 불구하고 산업 종사자의 장기적 이익을 위해서도 그리고 물류산업의 발전뿐만 아니라 제조업, 유통산업, 식품산업 및 관광산업 등 물류산업이 지원하는 연관산업의 발전을 위해서도 정확한 데이터의 축적이 중요하다. 여기에 IT기술을 적용할 경우 정확한 데이터의 수집 및 축적이 가능하기 때문에 물류산업에 대한 융합적 접근의 중요성이 새삼 강조되고 있다.

또한 데이터에 근거하여 물류산업과 연관산업의 미래를 예측하는 모델의 개발이 필요하다. 연관 인력, 설비, 물자, 서비스 지수 등을 연계시킨 수학적 모델의 개발이 필요하며 이를 통해 미래를 예측하면서 물류산업의 수준향상을 위한 장기 계획의 수립이 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 예를 들어 연관 인력의 기술 수준과 이에 상응하는 대우 및 임금 수준, 소요 설비의 예측, 예상 물동량 등이 같이 연계되어 연구될 경우 미래에 발생 가능한 위험요소를 최소화 하면서 낭비를 줄일 수 있다. 연관산업의 입장에서는 물류 비용의 절감을 통해 상호 시너지 효과를 볼 수 있을 것이다.

발표 시에는 경영과학 기법을 활용하여 물류산업의 발전을 도모한 철도운송 사업 및 항공 물류 등 외국의 국내의 사례를 소개하고 또한 국내 물류산업의 중장기 발전을 위한 제안을 드리고자 한다.
