| abstract | In the steel industry, the quality design and scheduling problems have been handled separately, but these problems are actually interrelated and should be considered simultaneously. This article is a result of such an attempt. We first describe a system architecture for the integration of quality design and scheduling problem. Secondly, the critical processes of case-based reasoning for the quality design problem is presented. Thirdly, we propose algorithms and mathematical formulations for the scheduling problem of steel-making process. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated with some experimental results. |
