abstract | This paper deals with the production and energy efficiency for the unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem. The proposed method allows the decision maker to find a compromise solution of the weighted sum objective of production and electricity use. Reliability models are used to consider the energy cost aspect of the problem. In many industrialized countries, manufacturing industries pay stratified electricity charge depending on time zone of a day (peak-load, mid-load, off-peak load). The emerging smart grid concept may demand industries to pay real-time hourly electricity cost to use energy most efficiently. The aim of this paper is to optimize the weighted sum of two criteria: the minimization of the make-span for production part and the minimization of time-dependent electricity cost. The performance of hybrid genetic algorithm with suggested “Blank Job Insertion” algorithm is demonstrated by simulation experiment. This hybrid algorithm is intended to be applied to the development project of integrated operation technology for autonomous reconfigurable production system. |
