abstract The purpose of this research is to improve the performance measurement methodology of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) considering both the business and the production aspects.
To achieve this objective, we investigate characteristics of well-known models of business excellence, e.g. the Malcom Baldridge model, the Deming model, and European Foundation for Quality Management model, and KPC (Korean Productivity Center) model.
And then a new MES performance measurement metrics are established combining the business models investigated and existing MES standard of ISA-95. Based on established metrics, a framework that is congruent with a business strategy is developed and the value of the proposed system is analyzed.
